Pine Needle Pickup Day

Last night we took down our Christmas tree. Now there is a big bear spot in our living room where it previously stood. It’s actually kind of a sad event to physically see the Christmas Season coming to an end for another year. It was a beautiful tree standing 9 feet tall with eight strings of lights (which took 3 hours to put on). As I recall the “old me” complained about how much work it was while we were putting it up, but now I actually felt a little sad about taking it down. Later in the evening I realized that if it was Christmas all year round then Christmas wouldn’t be such a special time. That’s the beauty of the changing seasons. In a way it’s the ordinary moments in our lives that make the extraordinary ones special.
